Tampere, Finland – March 23, 2009 – Confidex, the leading supplier of contactless Limited Use tickets and RFID tags, today announced that it has shipped two (2) million Limited Use Contactless Tickets to the city of Konya in Turkey.

The ISO-14443-A-compliant tickets were purchased by Teknikkart, an Istanbul based Smartcard manufacturer and delivered to the municipality of Konya, Turkey. The Paper Contactless Tickets made by Confidex has already been taken into use in Konya’s mass transit system of buses and tram network. Konya municipality operates 248 buses and 60 tram networks with more than 2070 bus trips and 310 tram trips each day. The officials of Konya municipality expect that passengers took more than 60 million trips during 2008 of which 60% using the buses and the remaining trips using the tram network. Buses have 2072 trips while tram networks have 310 trips per day.

The Confidex Paper Contactless tickets allow passengers to take two trips using a single ticket and provide the transit system with single ticket ride data via the ticket’s unique serial numbers.

The tickets can be read in 0.3 seconds, which provides customer convenience and increases the efficiency of the transit system.“
