Customer specific products

In addition to the standard product offering, Confidex provides value added services by creating uniquely designed RFID tags for specific customer needs.

In some cases, one of the standard tag products might require an additional attachment method or a data matrix label on top of the tag. But it is also possible that the customer application requires a totally new tag design depending on the project feasibility. This is often the case when none of the other tags in the market can meet their requirements.

Requirements

At first, our trained sales representative will go through the basic requirements of the application together with the customer. Most of the key requirements collected are related to operational conditions like ambient temperature, impact resistance and physical size. However, they may also include commercial details including the targeted end prices, production quantities and schedules.

Concept

After the product requirement specification has been created, our product development staff will start concept development for the new tag. Successful tag development projects have to be completed quickly in the place where they are going to be used as, in most  cases, new unspecified requirements or restrictions may emerge. The Confidex engineering team works closely during this phase with the customer to ensure that no details are overlooked before entering production.

Development

After this initial proofing stage, actual tag development can begin. This includes milestones, which need to be reached as the first series of tags are produced. Depending upon the complexity of the tag structure, the development phase can take between one and six months. During this time the endurance of the tag tested and stabilized in readiness for a larger production series. Every last inch of the tags reading distance is stretched from it in order to maximize the margins for reliable performance.

Prototypes and production

Once the development phase is concluded, the first production series of this new tag is tested at the customer premises. This is done in order to make sure that the future deliveries will yield the same results as the first products, which set the baseline for the whole system. After all tests have been finished, the product is released to production where we typically scale the quantities to meet the customer’s demand for deliveries.
